Wild and Woolly Western Verse and other Sagebrush Yarns. A passel of stories with a western flavor. Written by Sam Jackson creator of the National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo and circuit, and illustrated by Renee Jackson.
"This smattering of stories was compiled for reasons beyond just wanting to "flaunt my literary genius." First and foremost would be the entertainment of the readers, for if not successful in that instance, most, finding a lack of jollificiation in the first few pages, will rarely soil the remainder - except, in the worst possible scenario, where it might be called upon to replace the Sears catalog in certain unmentionable locations. Secondly, my hope would be that some among you - who may presently harbor negative feelings toward the pastoral West and its resident custodians - might be enlightened to a point of reconsideration and begin to see that those who came here as the first stewards fo these vast and valuable lands are, in most cases, just as caring and better informed in the nurture and management of this national treasure as anyone in the environmental movements or federal ranks. Last but not least, this document could serve as proof to my posterity (who paid little attention while I was in the mortal state) that I was actually here, and my adventures, though miniscule in their eyes, might have had a positive effect in some way.
